Excess Crude Account
Nigerian government account that established savings levels from crude oil sales. The account was intended to insulate the country from severe price shocks. The global recession of 2008-2009 forced the government to deplete the account to well below its peak in 2008. In 2010, the account was replaced with a national wealth fund.
