Triggering Term

A set of terms that must be clarified with detailed agreement terms when used in credit advertising and other literature. Triggering terms were established as part of the truth in lending act of 1969, enabling the FTC to enforce standards in credit advertising, and to protect consumers from predatory marketing practices.
