The Council Regulation ((EEC), No. 696/93 of 15 March 1993) on statistical units for the observation and analysis of the production system in the Community lays down a list of eight (types of) statistical units: the Enterprise; the Institutional Unit; the Enterprise Group; the Kind-of-activity Unit (KAU); the Unit of Homogeneous Production (UHP); the local Unit; the local Kind-of-Activity Unit (local KAU); the local Unit of Homogeneous Production (local UHP).
