Matching Orders

A deception scheme perpetrated by two or more individuals who act together by entering identical buy and sell orders simultaneously so that a transaction shows up on the tape, but no true change of ownership occurs. This scheme is used to make it appear like there is active trading taking place in a stock, when in fact there isn’t. This is a prohibited activity.
