Long / Short Fund

A mutual fund type that mimics some of the trading strategies of hedge funds by using leverage, derivatives, and short positions in order to maximize its returns. Most of these funds' investments are in stocks, and their positions can be limited by law. Common investors in these types of funds are able to enjoy some of the advantages of investing in hedge funds.
