Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS)

A U.S. employee benefits program created in 1920 to provide retirement, disability and survivor benefits to federal public service employees and their families. In 1987, a new system, Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS) was created, which provides similar benefit plans.
