Block Positioner

Registered member of the securities and exchange commission who deals securities and takes a long or short position in a stock or bond. The block positioner assumes this position with the hopes of receiving a profit by selling the block at a higher price than it was originally purchased at. As a method of protecting their investment, block positioners often hedge or sell short.
