Airbag Swap

An interest rate swap with a fluctuating face amount used to calculate regular payments, which changes according to market defined interest rates. During this swap, this face, or notional, amount can increase or decrease with or against the movement of interest rates, depending on the aim of the parties involved, whom may use the airbag swap to hedge investments in the bond market.
